Article: What My Clients Are Asking for Right Now

What My Clients Are Asking for Right Now

Working directly with clients gives me a very different view of jewelry trends.

I don’t only see what appears in magazines or on celebrities. I see what women actually send me on WhatsApp and say, “Danya, I want this.”

And lately, there are a few things I keep seeing.

Elongated diamonds are still everywhere.

Ovals, elongated cushions, emerald cuts, pears and marquises continue to be some of the shapes I’m asked for most. There’s something about the way an elongated stone sits on the hand that clients love.

Diamond studs are getting bigger.

Much bigger.

The tiny everyday stud hasn’t disappeared, but I’m seeing women treat studs as statement jewelry now. Large rounds, ovals and especially pears can completely change a look.

Wedding bands are becoming part of the design.

I love this shift.

Instead of choosing the engagement ring first and worrying about the band later, more clients are thinking about the two together. Different diamond shapes, interesting stacks, mixed textures and bands that actually complement the solitaire.

Colored stones are coming back into the conversation.

Not everything has to be white diamonds. Yellow, pink and blue diamonds, sapphires, emeralds and other beautiful stones can make a piece feel incredibly personal.

And finally, women are becoming less interested in rules.

A bridal ring doesn’t have to look bridal. An eternity band doesn’t have to be saved for an anniversary. A large diamond doesn’t have to wait for evening.

That might actually be my favorite trend.

Because the best jewelry isn’t necessarily what’s fashionable this year.
It’s the piece you can’t wait to put on.
